Hi

Picture

I'm the Professor of Law and Regulation of AI at the University of Oxford, Faculty of Law. I'm also part of Oxford's
Institute for Ethics in AI and Reuben College and affiliated with the Yale Information Society Project and the Quebec AI Institute.

I study how AI systems affect legal concepts like privacy, fairness, and responsibility to find how law should govern new harms and risks AI creates through inference, prediction, and profiling. My book, The Privacy Fallacy: Harm and Power in the Information Economy (CUP), explains why law must go beyond individual rights of information control to build accountability for data practices into the information economy. I occasionally advise governments, regulators, and companies on AI regulation, ethics, and policy.
